Tigard High School

The Tigard High School project encompassed a comprehensive 153,000-square-foot endeavor, combining new construction with extensive renovations to modernize the existing campus. The scope included the demolition and remodeling of 1950s-era buildings, installation of new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, construction of a two-story addition on the north side of the main building, and the erection of a new auxiliary gymnasium.

Prairie Electric was responsible for the complete electrical scope, including:

• Electrical Demolition: Safe removal of outdated electrical systems.

• Site Electrical: Upgrading and installing new site-wide electrical infrastructure.

• Distribution and Feeders: Implementing modern electrical distribution systems.

• Branch Lighting & Power: Installing new branch circuits for lighting and power.

• Lighting Fixtures and Controls: Providing energy-efficient lighting solutions with advanced controls.

• Low Voltage Systems: Comprehensive installation of Audio Visual, Security, Telecom/Data, and Fire Alarm systems.

Challenges and Solutions

Executing this project on an active school campus required meticulous planning and coordination. The phased construction approach allowed for continuous school operations while ensuring safety and minimizing disruptions. Prairie Electric collaborated closely with Pence Contractors and Bassetti Architects to navigate these challenges, delivering a modernized educational facility equipped to meet contemporary standards and future demands.
